The Career Development Center supports a variety of experiential learning opportunities each year. These connections between students and employers offer more than a chance to expand one's professional network — they are a student's best way of developing professional skills that are invaluable to a?future career.
Some of the opportunities we offer are:
-
Internships: Students are able to gain first-hand experience in the workplace under employer supervision. These opportunities may be paid, for-credit, or for-credit and paid. Internships may count for 1, 2, 4, or 8 credits. Learn more about Internships here.
-
Employer Site Visits: Site Visits offer students the chance to “picture themselves” with companies representing a variety of industries. Join a member of the company’s recruiting team as you’re taken on a guided office tour to learn more about opportunities and the company’s culture. Many visits also include a panel Q&A session with Emerson alumni or current employees to provide a complete picture of the professional experience.
-
Internship Fairs: The Career Development Center hosts two fairs throughout the academic year, one in the Fall and the other in the Spring. These events are a great chance to meet many employers at once and are often a springboard for gaining an internship or career opportunity with one of the attendees.?Register for Career Fairs through Handshake.
Resources for Unpaid Internships:?
While the Career Development Center urges its employer partners to consider compensating their interns, students may find unpaid opportunities providing an outstanding intern experience.
