Power-based interpersonal violence (PBIV) includes child abuse and neglect, sexual assault, sexual harassment, abusive relationships, bullying, hazing, threats, trafficking, and stalking.
All of these things are rooted in power and control. The effect is they take choices away from survivors and can leave someone coping with a range of impacts such as feeling on edge, on high alert, stressed or anxious, or having trouble sleeping or concentrating.
We know that people often handle things on their own. Still at times it may feel triggering, confusing, or complicated. If you have experienced PBIV or are not sure about an experience or relationship, you're not alone.?
You have the right to make decisions about options and resources that fit and are comfortable for you. Your boundaries, values, and beliefs should be respected. No relationship should make you feel like you can't be yourself or that decisions are not consensual.
